Chiropractic care is a patient-centred, non-invasive, hands-on, regulated health care profession focused on your spine, muscles, joints and nervous system.
Chiropractors use the best available evidence and clinical expertise to diagnose issues that affect your body’s movement. They treat them without medication or surgery and prevent them from returning. Chiropractic care can also promote health and improve your quality of life, as well as alleviate pain.

Dr. Kim Gillies is a chiropractor who loves working with her patients. She started Village Chiropractic in 1999 and strives to help patients reduce pain, gain movement, build strength, and improve their function in daily life. Dr. Gillies listens to patients, examines them, and provides a diagnosis and care for conditions involving nerves, muscles, and joints. Her evidence-based treatment could include education, advice, muscular therapy, joint manipulation or mobilization, and rehabilitative exercise. She has completed further certification in rehabilitation and Active Release muscular treatment. In addition to clinical private practice, Dr. Gillies also serves as an Advanced Practice Provider for the Rapid Access Clinic for Low Back Pain Central West program, funded by the Government of Ontario. Family physicians or nurse practitioners refer patients to the program designed to provide assessment, education, and advice, along with referral for MRI, specialist, or surgical consultation as appropriate. She is a member of the Ontario and Canadian Chiropractic Associations and the Ontario Chiropractic Association Research and Knowledge Translation committee. Dr. Gillies is married and a proud mother of two. She regularly spends time with her family on the trails, hiking, running, biking, or skiing.

Dr. Heimbecker was born and raised in Orangeville. She graduated from the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. She has held teaching positions at Centennial College, University of Waterloo’s Professional Development Program, and Humber College’s Human Anatomy Lab. Emma is also certified as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist with the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology. She graduated summa cum laude from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto. Her treatment methods consist of diversified adjusting and mobilization techniques, soft tissue therapy, rehabilitation exercise, acupuncture, and education. She strives to empower patients to live healthy active lifestyles while managing pain and improving motion and strength. Emma has received further certifications with Spinemobility’s Lumbar Spinal Stenosis boot camp, and she has joined forces with Eramosa Physiotherapy as a GLA:D® certified practitioner to offer an evidence-based education and exercise program for management of hip and knee osteoarthritis. Emma is a former Ottawa Valley stepdance instructor and is classically trained in piano and voice. In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis, curling, baking, and spending time with her dogs.

Dr. Joseph Kawun holds an Honours Bachelor of Applied Science in Kinesiology as well as a Diploma in Fitness & Health Promotion, Kinesiology from the University of Guelph Humber and received a Doctor of Chiropractic degree from Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. He was fortunate to have completed several sports therapy related internships while in university and worked for two years as a Licensed Kinesiologist. He understands the importance of exercise to maintain muscle strength, flexibility and to prevent injury!

He has made Orangeville his home and is Excited to join Village Chiropractic. He is a firm believer in preventive health care and in maintaining a good level of fitness and mobility and looks forward to working with the team and our patients to provide best-in-class chiropractic services. When not working, Dr. Kawun can be found playing hockey, cycling or hiking the trails year-round with his wife and their dog Echo.
